TrailStacks is a digital platform that helps hikers research, plan, and organize their long-distance backpacking adventures. Users can build gear lists ("Gear Stacks"), create and share wishlists ("Hiker Registries"), and explore curated trail information. The Service is provided for planning and informational purposes only.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use TrailStacks. By using the Service, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that all information you submit is accurate and current.
3. Account Registration
Certain features require creating an account using email or an OAuth provider (such as Google or Apple).
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials,
- All activities performed under your account,
- Promptly notifying us of any unauthorized access.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

- Harass, abuse, or harm other users,
- Scrape, extract, or export data for commercial use without permission,

5. User Content
You may upload or input gear details, notes, photos, or other materials ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.
By submitting User Content, you grant TrailStacks a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process it for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
You are responsible for ensuring that your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights.
6. Hiker Registry & External Links
The Hiker Registry feature allows users to create public wishlists via shareable links. TrailStacks does not sell or fulfill products. All purchases occur on external retailer websites.
TrailStacks is not responsible for:
- Third-party product accuracy or pricing,
- Transactions, shipping, or refunds handled off-platform,
- Disputes between users and retailers or supporters.
7. Privacy
Your use of TrailStacks is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle your data. By using the Service, you agree to our data practices as described therein.
8. Intellectual Property
The TrailStacks name, logo, platform design, curated data, and software are the exclusive property of TrailStacks LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on any portion of the Service.
9. Beta Features
TrailStacks may release early-access or beta features. These features may be incomplete or subject to change and are provided "as is."
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided for informational purposes only. TrailStacks does not guarantee:
- The accuracy or completeness of any gear data, weights, prices, or trail information,
- Continuous, uninterrupted service,
- The suitability of any gear or route for your personal use.
Outdoor activities involve inherent risk. You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and decision-making.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrailStacks and its owners, affiliates, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or goodwill.
Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of $50 USD or the amount you paid to TrailStacks within the prior 12 months.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TrailStacks LLC and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms or for behavior that threatens platform security or integrity.
Certain provisions—including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability—survive termination.
14. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify these Terms or any part of the Service at any time. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or via the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina.
